TA3. Local Intelligence - Plug & Play behaviour

  • NTUA together with ANCO will develop a local load controller (hardware and software). This local controller will be able to operate in the Microgrid without modifications in the other already installed elements. This requires software with Plug & Play capabilities. Moreover every local load controller will have increased intelligence in order to perceive the environment and adapt accordingly its behavior. The latter dictates the need for the development of advanced Artificial Intelligence Algorithms, e.g. Reinforcement Learning. A prototype load controller will be developed and tested at NTUA Microgrid laboratory. The local controllers that will be developed by NTUA and ANCO will have capabilities of perceiving the environment and model it, i.e. they will have a function that is able to understand or guess the network topology without knowing the single line diagram. This capability is very useful in a plug & play system where the main requirement is to minimize the manual fine tuning.
  • EMforce will design and develop local controller hardware and software for the storage to be installed in the field test at Continuon.
